Lucas Silva makes his first appearance in the Champions League as Real Madrid travel to Schlake 04 in the last 16 of the tournament.

Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva makes his Champions League debut for Real Madrid this evening as they are hosted by Schalke 04 in the last 16 of the tournament.

The 22-year-old was signed from Cruzeiro last month, and coach Carlo Ancelotti has handed Silva his maiden start in Europe's premier competition.

Elsewhere for Los Blancos, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo start, while Karim Benzema is named up top despite initially being a doubt.

Meanwhile, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is selected up front for the Germans, Kevin-Prince Boateng has been entrusted to supply the creativity, and there is also a start for on-loan Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic.

Schalke: Wellenreuther; Uchida, Howedes, Matip, Nastasic, Aogo; Neustadter, Hoger, Boateng; Choupo-Moting, Huntelaar

Real Madrid: Casillas; Carvajal, Pepe, Varane, Marcelo; Silva, Kroos, Isco; Bale, Benzema, Ronaldo.
