Jose Mourinho's Champions League ban reduced

Jose Mourinho's Champions League ban has been reduced after he appealed against the original decision.

The Real Madrid manager had been given a five-game ban for criticising match officials during his side's semi-final ties against Barcelona last season.

However, while his five-game ban remains, two matches instead of one have been suspended for three years.

The Portuguese served one game of his ban last season which means he will miss two matches in this season's tournament. A $71,000 (£43,000) fine was also upheld.

The former Chelsea coach had suggested that referees were biased towards the Catalan club, making it impossible for his side to win.

"After hearing the parties and looking at various pieces of evidence, the appeals body decided to modify the sanction," UEFA said in a statement.
