How Real Madrid could line up against Viktoria Plzen

Sports Mole looks at how Real Madrid could line up for Wednesday's trip to Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League.

Real Madrid have the chance to make it three wins in a row for the first time since the opening month of the season when they take on Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos have defeated lower-league side Melilla in the Copa del Rey and Real Valladolid in La Liga since Santiago Solari replaced Julen Lopetegui early last week.

Another victory is imperative at the Doosan Arena in midweek if the Champions League holders are to remain on course for a place in the last 16 of the competition.

Ahead of the Group G tie in the Czech Republic, Sports Mole looks at how the European champions could line up.

Possible RMI vs. PLZ

Out: Marcelo (hamstring), Dani Carvajal (calf), Raphael Varane (hip), Jesus Vallejo (hamstring), Mariano Diaz (Muscular)
Doubtful: None

Solari has inherited a side with a number of defensive absentees, as Marcelo - the scorer of three goals in three games before being struck down by injury - Carvajal, Varane and Vallejo are all still out.

Sergio Reguilon was Madrid's best player on his La Liga debut against Valladolid at the weekend and should therefore retain his place at left-back, while Nacho Fernandez will continue to provide cover alongside Sergio Ramos in the middle.

The key moment in the 2-0 win against Valladolid was provided by Vinicius Junior's deflected shot to open the scoring, and the highly-rated youngster could be rewarded with a first start since joining, while Isco and Marco Asensio are also options on the left of Madrid's expected three front.

There is also a decision to be made in goal, as Keylor Navas has started all three previous Group G games but could reportedly lose his place to Thibaut Courtois this week.
