Pavel Pogrebnyak has agreed personal terms with Reading and passed a medical ahead of his move to the Madjeski Stadium.
The Russian joined Fulham on a short-term contract last season and scored six goals in 12 league games for the west London side.
Cottagers boss Martin Jol was rumoured to be interested in extending the striker's stay but Reading now appear to have won the race for his signature.
Pogrebnyak will require a work permit before officially completing his move to the Royals.
