Reading moved into ninth in the Championship after a 3-2 win over Peterborough on Tuesday evening.
Reading began the match in confident fashion but found themselves behind after 16 minutes when Grant McCann found Tommy Rowe and the midfielder made no mistake from close range.
However, Reading continued to push as the half grew and reaped their reward after 27 minutes when Simon Church diverted Jimmy Kebe's cross into the net from close range.
Chances were few and far between in the second period, with the home side enjoying the better of the play as the match approached the latter stages.
Reading were ahead after 78 minutes when Adam Le Fondre fired home from close range and it was 3-1 moments later when Hal Robson-Kanu struck from the edge of the area.
Peterborough cut the score to 3-2 late on through Emile Sinclair but Reading hung on to secure all three points.
Next up they travel to Blackpool, while the Posh host Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.
