Reading have been held to a 1-1 draw by Portuguese side Olhanense in a pre-season match this evening.
The Royals had the first shot to test either goalkeeper when Ian Harte struck a free kick from almost 40 yards out that almost found its way into the back of the net.
Reading were ahead soon enough, however, as Robson-Kanu found Danny Guthrie, who showed some neat footwork before firing a low shot into the corner.
Olhanense's first real chance came towards the end of the half when Alex McCarthy denied Ivanildo's goalbound effort.
Alex Pearce provided an important block at the start of the second half to deny Abdi, moments before Jobi McAnuff was denied a penalty after being brought down in the box.
Olhanense continued to push forward, and almost got a lucky equaliser when Noel Hunt's attempted clearance hit his own post.
Minutes later the Portuguese side had their equaliser. Nicky Shorey was adjudged to have handled on the line, and skipper Rui Duarte stepped up to make the score 1-1.
The scores remained level as Reading were given a tough workout by the Portuguese side as they build towards a return to the Premier League against Stoke City on August 18.
