Reading's Jobi McAnuff dismisses the notion that this Saturday's showdown with Fulham is a "must-win" game.

Reading's Jobi McAnuff has rejected the notion that this weekend's Premier League clash with Fulham is a "must-win" game.

The Royals go into Saturday's showdown in 19th place in the table, but the winger was quick to point out that there is a long way to go in the current campaign.

"It's a ridiculous thing to say at this stage of the season that it is a must-win game," the Jamaican told the Reading Post.

"That's just a throw-away statement to hype it up more than it is. We have such a long way to go."

The 30-year-old went on to say that the pundits should not write them off against the Premier League's biggest teams as he believes his side is capable of getting a result against anyone.

"You can't write off games against Man United, City, Arsenal and others because where does that list stop?" he added.

"It's silly to do that. If you do then you have no chance. Norwich beat Arsenal the other day and people said they wouldn't get anything before Sunday.

"As a squad we would never think like that. It's just not the mentality of this club. We believe we can get results no matter who the opposition is. We have shown that in patches and now we need to do that by putting together a full 90 minutes."

Reading take on Fulham at Madejski Stadium on Saturday.
