Jason Roberts makes his first start of the season as Reading welcome Fulham to the Madjeski Stadium.

Brian McDermott has recalled Jason Roberts for Reading as they bid to pick up their first Premier League win of the season against Fulham at the Madjeski Stadium.

Roberts made the headlines last weekend by boycotting the 'Kick It Out' campaign, but the Royals striker will be concentrating on playing matters this afternoon after being selected to partner Pavel Pogrebnyak, who faces his former club, in attack.

In the only other Reading change, Jay Tabb replaces Jem Karacan in midfield, while Jimmy Kebe continues in favour of Garath McCleary on the left flank.

Martin Jol welcomes back Mahamadou Diarra to his starting lineup after the Malian recovered from his knee injury sooner than expected.

Damien Duff also returns after missing the victory over Aston Villa with illness and John Arne Riise joins him in midfield, with Steve Sidwell and Mladen Petric dropping to the bench.

Reading: McCarthy; Cummings, Gorkss, Mariappa, Shorey; Leigertwood, Tabb, Kebe, McAnuff; Pogrebnyak, Roberts

Fulham: Schwarzer; Baird, Hangeland, Hughes, Riether; Riise, Richardson, Diarra, Duff; Berbatov, Rodallega
