Preview: Cowdenbeath vs. Rangers

Sports Mole previews the Scottish Championship match between bottom side Cowdenbeath and second-placed Rangers.

Rangers will be looking for their fourth straight victory in the league when they travel to Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Championship on Tuesday.

Ally McCoist's side beat Dumbarton 3-0 last time out in the league, but have also had wins in the Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup since then, leaving the side in strong form.

The manager rotated his squad for Saturday's fourth round Scottish Cup win over Dumbarton, with the likes of Bilel Mohsni, Jon Daly and David Templeton all unused substitutes in the 1-0 win, but they are likely to return for the trip to Central Park.

Rangers will still be without first-choice goalkeeper Cammy Bell as he continues his recovery from a shoulder injury, while Steve Simonsen is also a doubt after missing the last match following a collision with a goal post against St Johnstone.

If Simonsen does miss out, Lee Robinson looks likely to continue, having kept a clean sheet in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Cowdenbeath will be looking for just their second home win of the season as they try to move off the bottom of the table.

The home side were thrashed last time out in the league, with the 6-0 loss to Falkirk leaving them 10th on goal difference, but avoiding defeat could be enough for them to climb off the foot of the table on Tuesday.

Jimmy Nicholl's men should be more confident heading into this tie though, having eased to a 3-1 win in the Scottish Cup against Forfar at the weekend.

Joint top scorer Calum Gallagher will have to miss the match, as he is on loan at Cowdenbeath from Rangers, but Lewis Milne should prove a threat after netting his third of the season in the cup.
