Report: Barrie McKay dropped by Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha reportedly drops Barrie McKay from his squad for the club's home Europa League qualifier against Progres Niederkorn on Thursday.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has reportedly dropped Barrie McKay from his squad for the club's home Europa League qualifier against Progres Niederkorn on Thursday.

The 22-year-old has a year left on his contract, but was not a regular starter towards the end of last season after the departure of former manager Mark Warburton and the arrival of Caixinha.

According to Sky Sports News, uncertainty over McKay's future has led to the Portuguese manager telling the winger to train with the club's Under-20s squad.

McKay was reportedly the subject of interest from RB Leipzig in the January transfer window, and has also been linked in recent weeks with Nottingham Forest, where Warburton is now the manager.

The Paisley-born player's rumoured banishment comes after Andy Halliday, Rob Kiernan, Michael O'Halloran, Harry Forrester, Joe Dodoo and Matt Crooks were also allegedly told by Caixinha to train with the Gers reserves.
