Ally McCoist: 'Referee was too lenient'

Rangers manager Ally McCoist believes that Dunfermline Athletic should have finished Wednesday evening's Scottish League One clash with fewer than 10 men.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist believes that Dunfermline Athletic were lucky to have only one player sent off during his side's 3-1 win at Ibrox Stadium.

Kerr Young was given his marching orders during the Scottish League One clash and six other players were shown yellow cards, but the Gers boss has insinuated that the referee was too lenient.

"It certainly was a bruising encounter. I haven't seen some of the challenges again yet but I'm looking forward to doing that," he told the club's website. "My initial reaction was there certainly could have been at least one red card before the second-half sending-off.

"Dunfermline were up for the game and we knew they would be because Jim's teams are always well organised, well drilled and they certainly don't lacking fighting spirit.

"The referee referees the game the way he sees fit. I would probably have refereed it a little bit differently today. Then again, he might have managed Rangers a little differently as well."

Lee McCulloch, Jon Daly and Bilel Moshni were on target for the Gers, helping them extend their lead at the top of the league table.
