Steve Clarke, Gennaro Gattuso in frame for Rangers job?

Rangers identify Steve Clarke and Gennaro Gattuso as potential successors to Ally McCoist, according to a report.

Rangers have reportedly identified Steve Clarke and Gennaro Gattuso as potential successors to Ally McCoist following his decision to step down as manager.

The Gers boss tendered his resignation last week, but there was no official word until the Scottish Championship club confirmed the news on Monday morning.

Clarke, who has been out of work since leaving West Bromwich Albion last year, was strongly linked with the Celtic job during the summer before they appointed Ronny Deila.

Former Italy international Gattuso is currently in charge of Greek side OFI Crete. The 36-year-old spent a year at Rangers after joining them in 1997, before going on to play for Salernitana and AC Milan.

According to The Scotsman, Clarke's name has been discussed by Rangers directors in the anticipation of McCoist's departure, while Gattuso is also under consideration.

Former Gers defender Terry Butcher is currently the bookmakers' favourite to take charge at Ibrox.
