Chris Ramsey: 'Southampton defeat very difficult to take'

QPR caretaker manager Chris Ramsey admits that their 93rd-minute defeat to Southampton was "very difficult to take" as the Hoops lost 1-0 at Loftus Road.

Queens Park Rangers caretaker manager Chris Ramsey has admitted that their 1-0 stoppage-time defeat to Southampton this afternoon was "very difficult to take".

Sadio Mane scored a 93rd-minute winner at Loftus Road as the Hoops, in their first game since Harry Redknapp's resignation, lost for the fifth time on the bounce.

Ramsey, who confirmed that he will remain in charge for the trip to Sunderland on Tuesday, has conceded that Rangers were perhaps a little fortunate to still be level at that point having created little of note in the final third.

"If I'm honest, I felt we rode our luck a bit in the first half. But the defeat was very difficult to take," he told reporters.

"It gives a lot of hope to the owners and fans to see that the players are trying their best to keep us in the division. We had some good spells of play, but we really need to tighten up on the quality of our passing and our creativity in the final third."

He added: "Myself and Kevin Bond will take the team again at Sunderland on Tuesday."

Tim Sherwood is expected to be named Redknapp's successor this week and could take over a team who are 19th in the table and one point from safety.
