Queens Park Rangers skipper Clint Hill sets retirement date

Clint Hill reveals that he plans to end his playing career at the end of next season.

Queens Park Rangers captain Clint Hill has revealed that he plans to retire at the end of next season.

The 35-year-old has been a mainstay at the back for QPR this season and feels that he has one more year in him before he calls it quits on his playing time.

Hill wants to remain in the game, however, and is already preparing for life as a coach.

"I'm doing little bits and pieces here and there with the 16s, and finishing my A licence," GetWestLondon.co.uk quotes Hill as saying.

"I've got coaching ambitions, and if I can fulfill them with Rangers, would obviously love to be a part of the academy."

Hill added that he felt one more year was probably as long as he could go before he became a "burden".

"I'd like another year, but I don't think I have the luxury of two or three years, and you have to weigh up the miles.

"You don't want to become a burden on the team. You don't want to be a negative and I'm very self-analytical."

This season, Hill has started all but two of QPR's 32 Championship games.
