Chris Ramsey returns to Queens Park Rangers as technical director

Chris Ramsey returns to Queens Park Rangers as technical director just two months after being sacked as manager of the club.

Chris Ramsey has returned to Queens Park Rangers as technical director just two months after being sacked as manager of the club.

The 53-year-old won just nine of his 32 games in charge of the R's, seeing the club relegated from the Premier League last season and struggling to launch a bid for an immediate return this term.

Ramsey was sacked in November, initially being replaced by Neil Warnock on an interim basis before Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink took permanent control of the team.

QPR director of football Les Ferdinand revealed that Ramsey had a clause in his contract which would allow them to retain him in some capacity should his time as first-team coach not work out.

"Whilst we were disappointed things didn't work out with Chris at first-team level earlier in the season, we were determined to retain his services at QPR," Ferdinand told the club's official website.

"As such, we actually put a clause in his contract which allowed us to retain Chris's services in a player-development role should things not work out for him as head coach.

"Chris knows academy football inside-out and having put the building blocks in place for a lot of the good restructuring work that's been done here over the past 11 months, he can come in and make an instant impact in an environment he has helped build."

Hasselbaink is still looking for his first victory in charge of QPR having drawn four and lost two of his six outings so far, leaving the club 16th in the Championship table.
