Nasser Al-Khelaifi: 'Edinson Cavani can replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic'

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi says that Edinson Cavani can replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the club's main striker for the 2016-17 campaign.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has insisted that Edinson Cavani can replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the club's main striker for the 2016-17 campaign.

Ibrahimovic will depart PSG this summer on a free transfer having scored 156 goals in 180 appearances for the French champions.

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has been linked with a move to France as the 34-year-old's replacement, but Al-Khelaifi has said that Cavani will thrive in the absence of Ibrahimovic.

"Who to replace Ibrahimovic?" he told RMC Sport. "Remember we already have a great striker at the club - it's Edinson Cavani."

Cavani, 29, scored 25 goals in 48 appearances for PSG during the 2015-16 campaign, but has largely been forced to play a supporting role to Ibrahimovic during his time in Paris.
