Portugal team doctor backs Cristiano Ronaldo to shake off injuries

Portugal's team doctor insists that Cristiano Ronaldo is fit enough to continue playing at the World Cup.

Portugal team doctor Henrique Jones has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is fit enough to continue competing for his side at the World Cup.

Ronaldo has played a full part in both games so far in Brazil, despite a knee problem causing him to require regular treatment during training sessions, but Jones does not believe that there should be concern over the Real Madrid forward's current condition.

"He is better than when he arrived in the national team setup," Jones told Publico.

"In medical terms I do not know if he is 100%, but is clinically he is well and is able to compete. He has a little discomfort because of the tendinitis he suffered, but the rest is fine."

Portugal face Ghana in their final Group G game on Thursday knowing they need a convincing victory to stand any chance of progressing in the tournament.
