Eliaquim Mangala gives Porto the win

Porto edge past Sevilla 1-0 thanks to Eliaquim Mangala's first-half header.

Porto will take a slender advantage to Spain after they beat Sevilla 1-0 in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final tie this evening.

Eliaquim Mangala's goal was enough for the Portuguese side on home soil, despite the visitors making a good start at Estadio Do Dragao.

Diego Reyes made a block to halt Juan Antonio Reyes's through-ball, before Ivan Rakitic's free kick was met by the head of Nicolas Pareja.

However, the hosts responded, and took the lead when Ricardo Quaresma found Mangala and the defender headed beyond Beto in the Sevilla goal.

Steven Defour hit the post towards the end of the first half, before Jackson Martinez mishit a volley into the ground and over the bar after the break.

Fernando was sent off late for Porto after he picked up two bookings is quick succession.
