Graham Westley: 'Jermaine Anderson can follow Dele Alli example'

Graham Westley claims that Peterborough United midfielder Jermaine Anderson can "progress like Dele Alli" and become a Premier League regular in the future.

Peterborough United manager Graham Westley has backed Jermaine Anderson to match the recent achievements of Dele Alli in becoming a future England international.

Alli has exploded onto the scene this season by swapping League One for Premier League and international football with the Three Lions and Tottenham Hotspur.

After seeing the youngster's former England Under-18s teammate Anderson score four goals in 15 games for the Posh this term, Westley now believes that the 19-year-old has the potential to make a similar step up in quality.

"There's no reason why Jermaine can't progress like Dele Alli," he told BBC Sport. "He's a fantastic athlete and a fantastic learner. He's a terrific lad, a very, very talented footballer technically, he's now adding some goals to his game.

"Dele has done what he's done and shown he's got international calibre and made massive strides very, very quickly. I think we've got players in this camp who can make similar sort of progress.

"You look at Jermaine, the kid's got three goals in three games and he's looking better and better game after game. He's working on all the things he needs to work on to be the very best he can be."

Alli, who has four international caps to his name, joined Spurs from MK Dons in a £5m deal earlier this year.
