Darren Ferguson: Lee Tomlin "fine" after failed Celtic move

Lee Tomlin is not dwelling on the disappointment of failing to secure a move to Champions League outfit Celtic this summer, according to his manager Darren Ferguson.

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has said that he is pleasantly surprised at how well Lee Tomlin has coped with a proposed move to Celtic failing to materialise.

The 24-year-old's future with Posh had grown increasingly uncertain following the news that the Champions League side had tabled a bid for his services last weekend.

However, the Scottish champions were knocked back in their pursuit of the Englishman - who started the 2-2 draw away to Crewe Alexadra today - but the 41-year-old coach has revealed that he is not dwelling on the disappointment.

"I knew Monday morning he would be fine," he told reporters. "There was a little bit of doubt at the weekend but I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly he dealt with it.

"It was his first experience of it. He's only a young lad and we both had a good chat on Monday morning and I knew he would be fine for the game."

Peterborough missed the opportunity to join Leyton Orient at the summit of League One following the clash with the Railway Men, with a last-gasp Michael Bostwick goal salvaging a point for Ferguson's men.
