Preview: Osasuna vs. Cadiz - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's La Liga clash between Osasuna and Cadiz, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two teams in the running for top-half finishes in Spain's top flight will lock horns on Tuesday evening as Osasuna welcome Cadiz to Estadio El Sadar.

Osasuna are currently 12th in the La Liga table, two points and one position behind Cadiz, who have impressed in their first campaign at this level for 15 years.

Osasuna finished 10th in La Liga last season on their return to this level of football, and Jagoba Arrasate's side have already secured at least one more campaign in Spain's top flight.

Indeed, a record of 10 wins, 11 draws and 14 defeats from 35 matches has left Los Rojillos in 12th position in the table on 41 points, 11 points clear of the relegation zone.

Osasuna will be looking up the division rather than down at this stage as they are only three points behind 10th-placed Celta Vigo at the time of writing, although there is a chance that the picture could have changed by the time that this match kicks off.

Arrasate's side saw a three-game winning run come to an end against Celta on April 25 before losing at Real Madrid on May 1, but they will enter this match off the back of a 2-2 draw away to Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, with Ante Budimir scoring a leveller for the visitors in the 89th minute of the contest.

Cadiz, meanwhile, will enter Tuesday's clash off the back of a 2-1 victory over struggling Huesca on Saturday, and Alvaro Cervera's side have now only lost one of their last seven league games, with the defeat in question occurring against the champions Real Madrid.

The promoted club have picked up seven points from their last three matches against Real Valladolid, Granada and Huesca, meanwhile, and will fancy their chances of securing another positive result in this game.

Cadiz are operating at this level of football for the first time since the 2005-06 season, and they have secured back-to-back campaigns in the top flight for the first time since 1992-93.

Cervera's team are currently 11th in the table but are only three points off eighth-placed Athletic Bilbao on the same number of games, and it would be some story if they were to finish in the top half of the division.

El Submarino Amarillo have also been impressive on their travels this term, picking up 23 points from 17 matches, recording six victories in the process.

Team News

Osasuna will again be without the services of Jonathan Calleri and Ruben Martinez through injury, but Oier is available, having served a one-game suspension against Athletic.

The majority of the players that started the draw with Athletic are again likely to take to the field, with Budimir leading the line and Kike Barja and Roberto Torres operating in the wide areas.

There could be a change at right-back, though, with Nacho Vidal potentially coming in for Jonas Ramalho, which was the alteration that occurred in the second half of Saturday's draw with Athletic.

As for Cadiz, Juan Cala will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury, while Salvi Sanchez, Alex Fernandez and Luismi Quezada will again be absent for this match.

There are not expected to be many changes from the side that started the win over Huesca, but Alvaro Negredo should return to the attack to partner Anthony Lozano.

Head coach Cervera could also make an alteration in a wide area, with Jairo Izquierdo potentially coming in for Ivan Alejo, but Jose Mari should again feature in the middle of the park.

Osasuna possible starting lineup:
Herrera; Vidal, Aridane, D Garcia, Cruz; Torres, Moncayola, Torro, Brasanac, Kike; Budimir

Cadiz possible starting lineup:
Ledesma; Carcelen, Fali, Lopez, Akapo; Izquierdo, Jonsson, Mari, Malbasic; Lozano, Negredo

We say: Osasuna 1-1 Cadiz

There is not an awful lot between these two sides in terms of quality, and we are expecting a well-matched game on Tuesday evening. Osasuna ran out 2-0 winners in the reverse match earlier this season, but Cadiz are in strong form, and we fancy the visitors to secure a share of the spoils.
