Oldham Athletic have appointed David Dunn as their manager on a permanent basis.

The 35-year-old had been in interim charge of the League One side as player-manager after the sacking of Darren Kelly in September.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City midfielder has drawn all four of his games in charge of the Latics so far.

Oldham chairman Simon Corney told the club's official website: "Everyone at the club has been very impressed with the way David has gone about his business since taking over the reins on an interim basis.

"His dedication, hard work and exacting standards have already had a positive effect on the club and the way he has approached the role has made it impossible for us not to give him his chance.

"We believe his ambition, skills and positive influence will be pivotal to the club's progression."

Oldham, who are currently 18th in League One, host Scunthorpe United at Boundary Park on Saturday.
