Half-Time Report: Nottingham Forest in front against Wigan Athletic

Nottingham Forest take a 1-0 lead in at half time against Wigan Athletic thanks to Britt Assombalonga's goal.

Dougie Freedman is 45 minutes away from a second consecutive win as new Nottingham Forest manager after they took a 1-0 lead in at half time against Wigan Athletic.

Britt Assombalonga's goal is the difference between the sides at the break at the City Ground.

The Latics nearly opened the scoring when Kim Bo-Kyung lashed one in from long range, but Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow was equal to the effort.

The home side were next to try their luck but Ali Al-Habsi got his body behind Michail Antonio's long-range attempt on the half-hour mark.

Club-record signing Assombalonga opened the scoring for Freedman's men when he wriggled free of his marker inside the box before turning the ball home on 34 minutes.

Forest could have doubled their advantage shortly after but Henri Lansbury could only fire over the bar when well placed after a good ball from Antonio.
