Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld has turned down a summer switch to Norwich City after failing to agree personal terms, according to the player's agent.
Norwich agreed a fee with Ajax for the Belgian international earlier this week, but have hit a stumbling block over the player's wage demands.
Alderweireld's agent Soren Lerby has insisted that a move to the Premier League did seem attractive, but his client could not reach a compromise over contract terms with the Canaries.
He told Algemeen Dagblad: "The problem was not that Norwich didn't fit Toby's ambitions, but we simply failed to agree terms.
The 24-year-old conceded yesterday that he has not ruled out staying in Amsterdam next season, with rumours of reported interest from Italy keeping hopes of a summer switch alive.
