Jordan Rhodes struck in the 83rd minute to cancel out Dwight Gayle's 12th-minute opener.

Norwich manager Daniel Farke praised the never-say-die attitude of his side after more late heroics earned a 1-1 draw at promotion rivals West Brom.

Substitute Jordan Rhodes struck in the 83rd minute to cancel out Dwight Gayle's 12th-minute opener for Albion in their Sky Bet Championship clash.

It is the eighth time this season that Norwich have come back in the last 10 minutes of a game to avoid defeat – winning five and drawing three.

Farke, whose side have been edged out of the top two on goal difference by Sheffield United, said: "In general we know that we are capable to be there with late goals to turn games.

"There is a brilliant atmosphere within the group. We believe and we have this mentality – never say die.

"I would prefer a boring 2-0 sometimes! But all our games are pretty crazy.

"We had such a young side on the pitch – especially when you look at the back four. Sometimes we make mistakes but we have this mentality.

"I trust my lads and I always believe that we can come back. We have many threats on the pitch and we are always able to score and turn the game.

"So yes, I was pretty hopeful and I trusted them. It was a brilliant move by Jordan Rhodes and I am so happy for him.

"He is definitely one of the best strikers in the league. It is not easy when you have just come on the pitch. It is a big, big compliment to the players.

"All the lads want to be there with a big impact for the group. Thank God that we have this togetherness and spirit.

"In the first 20 minutes Albion deserved to be in the lead. We invested so much in the second half. In the end it was probably a fair result and a good point for both teams."

Despite the fact that Albion failed to see out the game, manager Darren Moore remained upbeat and insisted that he was delighted by his side's display.

Moore, whose side were jetting out after the game for a mid-season break in Dubai, said: "I am not disappointed at all, no way can I be disappointed with that performance.

"I thought that it was an excellent performance. The work that we put in in training was on show today.

"We didn't allow Norwich any momentum in the game at all and we were trying to get that second goal right from the start of the second half. You saw our intention straightaway with the shot at goal.

"I thought it was a great performance against high-level opposition and I thought that we controlled the game for long spells.

"With teams at the top of the league there is resilience to them and I thought Norwich showed that today.

"If there was one chance that you didn't want it to drop to it was to Jordan Rhodes. I have worked with him and I know what a stellar finisher he is.

"But his goal and Dwight's were very similar – calm, composed. They looked like two marksman who have regularly been in that position.

"So we drew the game but when you look at the performance it was excellent. That is why I am full of vigour."
