Defender Ryan Bennett admits that it has been difficult for him to spend so long on Norwich City's bench.

Norwich City defender Ryan Bennett has conceded that it has been "hard" to sit on the club's bench for large parts of the campaign.

The 23-year-old had spent the last three months among the substitutes until the weekend, when he came on in the 18th minute against Reading to replace the injured Michael Turner.

He went on to score in a 2-1 win for the Canaries and despite admitting that it has been a tough period for him, the centre-back insists that he has remained "positive".

"I came here and the manager has changed, and the two lads that have played have done unbelievably well. I think Turns has been one of the best players of the season since he came back in," Bennett is quoted as saying by the Eastern Daily Press. "For me to sit and watch things, it's hard. At times we have not got the results and sometimes it's hard not to be playing.

"But for me I just had to stay positive. There are plenty worse things I could be doing as a job right now and I'm just happy to be here every day and working hard every day."

Bennett signed for Norwich from Peterborough United in January 2012.
