Gerry Armstrong tempted by Northern Ireland job

Gerry Armstrong confirms that he is interested in becoming Northern Ireland's manager on a part-time basis.

Former Northern Ireland international Gerry Armstrong has said that he would be prepared to manage his country, but only on a part-time basis.

The manager's job will become vacant after tonight's Euro 2012 qualifier against Italy, after Nigel Worthington took the decision to step down from the position following four years at the helm.

"I have got the capabilities to do the job, but I don't know if I want to do it on a full-time basis," Armstrong told Sky Sports News.

"I think it's a part-time job, the manager will probably be in place 45 to 50 days a year, and if they wanted a full-time manager I probably wouldn't be interested in it.

"If it was a part-time job, then I probably would be interested."

Iain Dowie and Sammy McIlroy have already admitted their interest in the post.
