Southend United boss Paul Sturrock has admitted that the club face an injury crisis ahead of Wednesday's League Two playoff semi-final second leg against Crewe Alexandra.

The Seasiders trail 1-0 from the first leg, and Sturrock has claimed that more than half of his team are currently injured.

"At this minute we're not going to call ourselves Southend United, we're now going to call ourselves emergency ward 10. Seventy per cent of the team are up in the treatment room, all niggling knocks and everything else," he told the club's official website.

Southend finished in the League Two season in fourth place.
