Premier League chief Richard Scudamore rejects claims that foreign owners want to get rid of promotion and relegation.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has scotched reports suggesting that foreign owners want to scrap promotion and relegation.

League Managers Association chief Richard Bevan had earlier claimed that a number of foreign owners were in support of Premier League reforms, but Scudamore strongly refuted those claims.

"There is not a club that is interested in the notion of no relegation," he said. "The whole point is we are a sporting competition.

"I have an open dialogue with all of [the owners] and I am probably in the best position of anybody to understand where the clubs are at and what the mood is and there is not one of them is contemplating that [proposal]."

In a survey of Premier League owners, nine have said that they are against reforms, while the other 11 clubs have either declined to comment or have not yet responded.
