Charlton Athletic showed their title credentials this afternoon by recording a 1-0 win away at Sheffield Wednesday this afternoon.

Johnnie Jackson was the hero for the Addicks, scoring midway through the first half at Hillsborough to seal all three points for Chris Powell's side.

Elsewhere, second-placed Sheffield United kept up the pace with Charlton with a 3-0 win at Bury.

Alan Lee scored in the last minute as Huddersfield Town left it late against Oldham Athletic, while new Preston North End manager Graham Westley saw his side come from behind to beat Wycombe Wanderers 3-2 at Deepdale.

The club Westley left, Stevenage, registered a 5-1 rout over Rochdale which included a brace from Lawrie Wilson.

Bottom-of-the-table Chesterfield fought back from a goal down to record a 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient courtesy of a goal from Jimmy Juan.
