Joe Allen has missed out on the Wales squad for the European Championship qualifiers against Cyprus and Israel due to injury.

The Liverpool midfielder will not feature after failing to recover from a hamstring problem.

Wales boss Chris Coleman has named a 23-man squad for the two matches, which could seal the nation's progress to a major tournament for the first time since 1958.

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has been named in the party, while Tottenham Hotspur's Ben Davies, James Collins of West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers' David Edwards all return.

Wayne Hennessey, Ashley Williams, James Chester, Neil Taylor, Joe Ledley, Aaron Ramsey and Tom Lawrence make up the other Premier League names in the squad.

Wales, who are currently three points clear at the top of Group B, travel to Nicosia to face Cyprus on September 3 before playing Israel at the Cardiff City Stadium on September 6.
