Michel Platini says that Euro 202 could be held in 13 cities across Europe.

Michel Platini has revealed that UEFA are discussing the possibility of hosting Euro 2020 in up to 13 countries across Europe.

The Frenchman announced the plan at a news conference in Kiev ahead of the climax of Euro 2012 tomorrow.

"This is only an idea, but in December or January we have to make our final decision. The idea seems very appealing to me, especially given we will have the 60th anniversary of the tournament," said the UEFA president.

"We could organise the tournament in 12 or 13 cities spread out all over Europe."

The proposal comes amid uncertainty regarding Turkey's bid for the tournament.

Platini had offered his backing to the bid, but Turkey is also believed to be a frontrunner to host the 2020 Olympics.

According to Olympic regulation, a country cannot hold another major sporting event in the same year.

Azerbaijan and Georgia have also confirmed their interest in bidding for Euro 2020, as well as a triple bid consisting of the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
