Following the arrival of Davide Santon from Inter Milan, Newcastle United have added a second player to their squad this evening in goalkeeper Rob Elliot.
The 25-year-old has joined the Magpies from League One side Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
After signing a five-year deal at St James' Park, Elliot claimed that the club's relationship with it's supporters was a major factor in his decision to join Alan Pardew's side.
"Newcastle are probably the best-supported club in the country, and one of the best in the world," he told the club's official website.
"That connection which the club has always had with the fans, and the way the team has started the season, made it a bit of a no-brainer.
"It was hard because Charlton were my boyhood club, but when you have the chance to play in the Premier League and for one of the biggest clubs then you can't turn that down."
Charlton had previously reported Newcastle to the Premier League over their conduct during the transfer process.
