Newcastle United have reportedly opened talks with Marseille attacker Andre Ayew over a summer transfer.
The Ghana international is out of contract at the Stade Velodrome at the end of the season and therefore able to speak to a number of clubs.
It is claimed by Goal.com that, while an array of Premier League sides are interested in landing the 25-year-old's signature, Newcastle have stolen a march on their rivals having made contact with the Marseille star.
Ayew, who played a key part in Ghana's run to the final of this year's Africa Cup of Nations, has scored two goals in his last three appearances in Ligue 1.
It is claimed that West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are among those also keen to sign the former Lorient loanee, who Marseille are resigned to losing on a free contract in a few months' time.
