Newcastle United considering Pape Souare swoop from Crystal Palace?

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Crystal Palace left-back Pape Souare.

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Crystal Palace left-back Pape Souare.

According to Sky Sports News, Magpies manager Rafael Benitez wants to bring in competition for current left-back Paul Dummett, and allegedly holds Senegalese international Souare high on his list of targets.

The 27-year-old, who has struggled for first-team football at Selhurst Park this term, last played in Palace's FA Cup defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month - only his third appearance this season.

The left-back also suffered a lack of playing time last season after breaking his jaw and thighbone in a road traffic accident.

Newcastle manager Benitez is also reportedly tracking Chelsea full-back Kenedy as an alternative to Paul Dummett.
