Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has made an enquiry for Malaga midfielder Jeremy Toulalan, according to reports.
The Mirror understands that Newcastle are interested in signing the French international as they look to build a squad capable of challenging on multiple fronts this season.
Toulalan, who has 36 caps for France, is capable of playing in a number of positions, including centre-back.
The Magpies face competition to sign Toulalan from crisis club Malaga, with former club Lyon also said to be interested in re-signing the midfielder.
