Nottingham Forest duo complete Newcastle United moves

Nottingham Forest pair Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles finalise their switches to Premier League side Newcastle United.

Newcastle United have completed the signings of Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles from Nottingham Forest.

The pair have been in talks with the Magpies for the last few days, despite recent claims from Forest boss Stuart Pearce that he had not been consulted regarding their departures from the City Ground.

Nevertheless, the discussions continued and having both passed medicals, Newcastle have now confirmed their arrivals on "long-term deals".

The Premier League side have also revealed that they will loan both players back to Forest for the entirety of the upcoming 2014-15 campaign.

Speaking to Newcastle's official website, 20-year-old defender Lascelles said: "As soon as I found out about the move I was over the moon. It's a huge step up for me. Newcastle are a club with a massive fanbase, a big history and an unbelievable stadium.

"First, I am going back to Forest for another season and that will be great for my development. Hopefully I can come here next summer an even better player."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Darlow, who will turn 24 in October, added: "I'm delighted for it all to be sorted and I can't wait to get started here at Newcastle. The loan back is going to be another year but it gives me time to develop my game further before I return. I'm looking forward to the future."

It is believed that Forest will receive around £7m for the two players.
