Team News: Shelvey makes Newcastle debut

New signing Jonjo Shelvey is given his Newcastle United debut this afternoon as he starts against West Ham United.

New signing Jonjo Shelvey has been given his Newcastle United debut this afternoon as he starts against West Ham United.

The newcomer from Swansea City takes the place of potentially-outgoing Cheick Tiote in the Magpies' only change, while there is no space in the lineup for fellow new signing Henri Saivet.

The hosts are missing Papiss Cisse and Vurnon Anita with groin and hamstring complaints respectively.

Slaven Bilic too opts to make a single change from the side that won 3-1 at Bournemouth as Cheikhou Kouyate returns to take the place of the injured Andy Carroll. Enner Valencia, who scored twice in that game, starts up front.

Newcastle United: Elliott, Janmaat, Coloccini, Dummett, Mbemba, Colback, Shelvey, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Perez, Mitrovic
Subs: Darlow, Lascelles, Gouffran, Saivet, Riviere, Toney, Aarons

West Ham United: Adrian, Tomkins, Collins, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Obiang, Noble, Kouyate, Antonio, Payet, Valencia
Subs: Randolph, Jenkinson, Reid, Song, Cullen, Moses, Jelavic
