Alan Pardew: 'I will fight to remain Newcastle United manager'

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew issues a defiant call to critics, claiming that he will fight to remain manager of the struggling club.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has claimed that he will "fight" to remain in charge of the struggling club after playing out a 2-2 draw against Hull City this afternoon.

Goals by Nikica Jelavic and Mohamed Diame left the Magpies on the verge of another defeat, but a Papiss Cisse brace salvaged a draw for the struggling North-East outfit.

Pardew told reporters after the game: "It's been a difficult start for us. I'm conscious of not making excuses because I've been accused of making excuses. I just want to do defend the team, but we were really good at times today and hopefully the fans can digest that.

"It's not lost on me that I get accused of being arrogant but I'm also a proud man to be manager of this football club and I'm going to fight to keep it. My team need to reflect that and I think they did today."

The draw has lifted Newcastle off the foot of the Premier League, with the Magpies now sitting in 18th place.
