Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that his side can reach the 40 points that he believes are needed to stay in the Premier League.
The Magpies, who host fellow strugglers Reading this weekend, are currently just two points above the relegation zone.
"It's an important game for us and Reading," Pardew told reporters.
"I still think you need that magic 40 points and that will be more than enough. We're capable of getting that."
Newcastle come into the match on the back of a goalless draw at Norwich City last weekend.
