Former Newcastle United midfielder Nolberto Solano has taken up a coaching role with Northern League side Newcastle Benfield following his retirement from the professional game.
The Peruvian, 37, ended his spell with Hartlepool after falling out of favour with new Pool manager Neale Cooper.
'Nobby' represented Newcastle on two occasions, scoring 38 goals in 234 competitive games in his first spell between August 1998 and January 2004 and also played for Aston Villa and West Ham in the peak of his Premier League career.
"I am delighted that we have been able to attract such a big name," said Benfield chairman Jimmy Rowe.
"I believe that Nobby's experience in the game will bring benefit."
Solano will study for his UEFA coaching licences while at Benfield.
