Moussa Sissoko confident of Newcastle United improvement

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko believes that his side will finish higher in the Premier League than their 16th-place position next season.

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko is confident that his side will improve on their 16th-place finish in the Premier League next season.

The 23-year-old joined the Magpies from Toulouse in January for a fee in the region of £1.5m and helped Alan Pardew's men escape relegation to the Championship by just five points.

Sissoko told the club's official website: "I think it went well and I'm pretty happy. My first half-a-season here wasn't always easy; results were difficult to come by sometimes and we found ourselves in a difficult position, but our target was met.

"We stayed up, so we did that successfully. Now it's time to go away, rest up on our holidays, clear our heads and come back stronger for next season."

Sissoko scored three goals in 18 appearances in the Premier League and Europa League for the Magpies last season.
