Report: Remi Garde cools Newcastle United interest

Remi Garde cools his interest in becoming Newcastle United head coach after watching the club drop down the Premier League table, according to a report.

Remi Garde has reportedly cooled his interest in becoming Newcastle United head coach next season.

The former Lyon boss has been linked with the role since January, when he was said to have held preliminary talks with the Magpies.

The 49-year-old coach has been out of work since leaving Lyon last summer.

Newcastle have plummeted down the Premier League table after a run of nine defeats in 10 games under John Carver and are at risk of being relegated.

They will go into the final round of fixtures next weekend two points clear of the bottom three and need to beat West Ham United to guarantee that they will not be playing Championship football next term.

According to The Chronicle, Garde has watched on with interest as the Magpies have tailed off dramatically in recent months.

The report adds that the Frenchman would need to be convinced that United is the job for him next season.

Steve McClaren has also appeared to snub the opportunity to take charge of Newcastle in the summer.
