Alan Pardew: 'Newcastle United saw the real Remy Cabella'

Alan Pardew pays tribute to Newcastle United playmaker Remy Cabella for his game-changing cameo in the 1-1 draw with Burnley.

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has claimed that the Premier League saw the real Remy Cabella for the first time in last night's 1-1 draw with Burnley.

The 24-year-old replaced Ayoze Perez during half time at Turf Moor and had an immediate impact after playing a role in Papiss Cisse's equaliser on 48 minutes.

Cabella has endured a mixed first four months in English football following a summer move from Montpellier, but Pardew says that the Frenchman offered a glimpse into his potential against the Clarets.

"The big difference was Cabella, who actually gave us some technical ability and produced a really good second half for us," he told reporters.

"That's really good news because we've been waiting for him to come alive a little bit for us. Tonight he changed the game a little bit. He played like one of the front row of a rugby team in the second half, he was terrific.

"[He] took the game by the scruff of the neck with his technical ability and that's what he has to do because he's not going to be a dominant force physically in the Premier League. He has to be a player who is going to get on the ball, run at people and create."

The Magpies, who sit 10th in the Premier League table, host leaders Chelsea at St James' Park on Saturday.
