Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew spoke of mixed news, regarding the injuries sustained by Leon Best and Ryan Taylor in the 2-1 home win over Aston Villa.

The pair were substituted during the first half, after separate collisions with Villa defender Stephen Warnock.

Pardew expects Best to be out until mid-March, but is hopeful Taylor will be able to avoid a long spell on the sidelines.

The Toon boss said: "Leon has got a medial ligament injury, which is usually a six-week lay-off.

"The good news for Ryan Taylor is that there is no break or fracture, so we think he's going to be OK."

Newcastle have won their last four home games.
