Newcastle United's Alan Pardew: 'We need to hit the ground running next season'

Alan Pardew insists that Newcastle United need to hit the ground running at the start of next season.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes that his side need to get off the ground quickly next season following a dismal second half of the 2013-14 campaign.

The Magpies, who are ninth in the Premier League table, ended a six-game run of defeats last weekend by securing a 3-0 win over Cardiff City.

As the season has progressed, numerous Newcastle supporters have been airing their frustration at Pardew, who has previously admitted that his job is not safe at St James' Park.

"It is important to keep perspective at times," The Chronicle quotes Pardew as saying. "We go up and down. I know our fans are very, very upset at the moment.

"And we need to make sure from the start of the next year that we kick off, hitting the ground running fast. Hopefully we can."

Newcastle's final game of the season is against Liverpool at Anfield.
