Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew insists that he will not be undermined by new director of football Joe Kinnear.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that he will not allow director of football Joe Kinnear to interfere with team matters.

Kinnear recently made a return to St James' Park in a senior role amid reports that he could undermine Pardew.

"I will always manage one way and that is talking to my staff, talking to my players, talking to my peers, as well as people like the owner, to make sure we are on the right agenda," Pardew told The Times.

"Joe now fits in there. But he can't interfere with me managing the team and I won't let him. I made it very clear to Joe."

Newcastle start the new Premier League campaign with a trip to Manchester City on August 19.
