Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew wants new director of football Joe Kinnear to stop talking to media following his rant on the radio on Monday, according to a report.

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has reportedly asked the club's director of football Joe Kinnear to stop speaking to the media.

Kinnear was officially appointed in his new role earlier today but previously went on radio and television announcing the move while also criticising parts of the media and the club's supporters.

The Magpies boss, who has yet to comment on Kinnear's arrival, wants to make the relationship between the pair work, but has pleaded with 66-year-old to stop his outbursts, reports The Mirror.

Kinnear managed Newcastle briefly in the 2008-09 season and won four Premier League games out of a possible 20 during his tenure.
