Frank Lampard: 'I have a lot left to give'

Former Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard insists that he still has plenty to offer as he prepares to make his New York City FC debut.

Frank Lampard has insisted that he still has plenty to offer as he prepares to embark on a new chapter in his career with New York City FC.

The 37-year-old initially joined the MLS franchise at the end of the 2013-14 Premier League season, but a year-long loan spell with Manchester City delayed his move across the Atlantic.

However, he is now gearing up to make his debut for the club, and he is "looking forward" to the challenge ahead of him.

"The challenge is to come here and do the best I can - and win. I wouldn't have come here if I didn't think I had a lot left in me," he told reporters.

"My fitness is good. It's a mini pre-season for me. I hope to get to peak fitness as quickly as possible. I've been watching all the games. I know every player and how they play. It will be a pleasure to play with them every day.

"My aim is to look forward. All I am is excited to be here now and play my best football."

Lampard will play alongside the likes of David Villa and Andrea Pirlo at the Yankee Stadium, and the former Chelsea man is eagerly anticipating linking up with the decorated duo.

"David and Andrea are at the top of the list. I'm a lucky man to be in the same squad as them. I think Pirlo is the best at getting his ball to dip and dive off the free kick. He can have the first one!" he added.

Lampard could make his debut for New York when they host Toronto FC on Sunday.
