Netherlands playmaker Wesley Sneijder has revealed that he is still 'scarred' by his team's defeat to Spain in the 2010 World Cup final.
The Dutch, who were beaten 1-0 in South Africa four years ago, have the chance for revenge on Friday when they begin their 2014 campaign against the defending champions.
While Sneijder has had time to get over the defeat in Johannesburg, the 30-year-old insists that he is still affected by what happened.
"It's like a scar that hasn't yet healed," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "It always gets me down when I think about it."
Sneijder will earn his 100th cap for the Netherlands if he plays against Spain on Friday.
